English Official Language-Description

Objective

• To improve some or all of your English language skills (comprehension, speaking, writing) with the goal of taking a Public Service official language test and achieve a higher level

Classes

• Private instruction, day or evening (at Conversa or at your work place).
• Semi-private with 2 or 3 students, day or evening (private or semi- private courses are offer either at Conversa or at your work place)
• Small group course with 4-6 students, evenings (at Conversa).

Instruction

Instruction is based on Conversa's communicative method of teaching applied to the contents of Business Opportunities.

Assessment

In order to determine a student's level, we offer an assessment (free of charge). This is done by phone in the form of a conversation that takes approximately 20 minutes. If you require an assessment, please provide your phone number and suggest a time for us to contact you.

Registration process (if payment is being made by your department)

1. Complete the registration form.
2. Upon receipt of your registration, Conversa will contact you to conduct the following assessment:
• Oral, by telephone.
• If necessary, reading and writing, by fax.
3. a)  Based on your current level and goals as well as the rates listed below, Conversa will estimate the number of hours of instruction required to reach your goal and then email you a proposal; or
   b)  you may start private lessons and your department would pay by monthly invoice; or
4. Instruction can begin as soon as your department approves.

Registration process (if you, the student, are paying)

1. Complete the registration form.
2. Upon receipt of your registration, Conversa will contact you to conduct the following assessment:
• Oral, by telephone.
• If necessary, reading and writing, by fax.
3. If you wish private lessons, this can start any time.  If you wish to take a small-group course, we will add your name to the next course appropriate for your level. 
4. Your course will start as soon as there are 4-6 students registered. You will then be notified by email of the start date. 

Fees

Private instruction from: 40.00/hour
Semi-private with 2 students: 45.00/hour
Semi-private with 3 students: 50.00/hour
Small-group courses: 250.00 (8 weekly classes @ 2.0 hrs.) (4-6 students required)
